The diagram is pretty good but I think your Reduced Screen Transition Diagram is still to detailed. There are a still lot of connections (4 between home and editor) wich gives it a "heavy" first impression. Maybe a better arrangment of your states would make this easier to read.
I think the choice to leave out the login mechanism to reduce the transition diagram was a really good idea. The second diagram is much simpler to read for the first time and makes it easier to understand the total transition diagram.
